Re: Precision weapons and partial damage

I'm just thinking about an idea and thought I'd widen my perspective and see what everyone else thinks. I don't know if I have asked out here, but I've long thought about having precision weapons do partial damage to systems. Instead of totally destroying a system, they would do just enough damage ...

Re: How do you feel about damage-over-time weapons?

Honestly I can see some neat, limited uses for these styles of weapons. I wouldn't want them to be a common weapon like R. I'm certain this was part of the logic behind having primary beams only fire every other turn. But that too was something that was removed when we went to 4th+ (and rightly so,...

Re: How do you feel about damage-over-time weapons?

My knee jerk reaction - and gut feeling - is "not a good idea". With all the bells and whistles that have been added to Starfire's tactical engine, and the sheer number of ships that can be present, combat is (already?) laborious. Having to track damage-over-time weapons would only create...

Material Degradation in space

Ran across this on my feed today. Very interesting! I especially wasn't aware of the problems of elemental oxidization in low orbit, though in hindsight it does make a lot of sense.

Re: Miniatures

Ooooh... so does this mean we might see Rigelian ships in a disruptive splinter camo? To be homest, I'm not sure how well this would work in space. I could, however, see this being used on troop transports and other ships meant to land on a planet's surface. In fact, I could see them with a darker ...

Re: Miniatures

Am remembering a couple years ago in a discussion about painting and colors there was mention made that at least one rulebook stated the Rigelians to be color blind. Blind ... hmm ... what could be visually interesting is a double blind miniatures skirmish (which this game may not be suitable for) ...

Re: Art!

Given that Starfire drive fields violate momentum conservation (and thus energy conservation) I am pretty sure you could build a powerplant out of it. The trick though is using the PSB behind the drive to create a smaller pocket where you have this violation, and then somehow extracting energy out ...

Re: Art!

Oh, what I meant was what the power supply itself is. Matter/Antimatter reaction? Nuclear reactor? Aether collectors? Refried bean gas? Trek forum commenter hot air? Depends. Lifeboats and long-term independent systems run on advanced RTG generators (a variety of closed-cycle Stirling engine, I thi...

Re: Art!

Talking about power supply, that's something I don't remember any publication or conversation about but then there is a lot of that which gets past my notice. Thing is, as best I can see, the ship designer talks a lot about what your ship can do in direct results, but very little about the support ...

Test Render of a deWulf Drive Room

So the muse decided I needed to do something instead of sleeping. I've always had the rough layout for what my drive rooms would look like if/when I ever needed to do a deckplan, and tonight the muse said to actually get off my butt and do it! Conceptually, the whole thing looks pretty good! https&#...
