SCC's Big List of Invasion Questions

Some recent poking around the rules left me with some question regarding invasions, to wit: ⋅ How long does it take to load Qt from Qv into ast? Some rules say it should be 8 hours while others say shorter, the cargo handling rules for a start. ⋅ Similarly how long to unload the ...

Re: Shuttle Lunch Bays

What pricing gap? The gap between the cost of a warship hull and a fast hull. Since this is about cost, if they can mount equal numbers of bays, players will opt for the cheaper ship. Maybe, maybe not, it will depend upon fleet structure, just like it would for regular ships. How happy are you with...

Re: Shuttle Lunch Bays

What pricing gap?

And I bring up PTF because it's one of many ways to get sqn that aren't effected by this rules change

Re: Shuttle Lunch Bays

Why not just make the bays and smcft more expensive then? The way you're moving things it's going to cause balance problems against PDC, AF, BS and PTF. PTF can some how, and against internal logic, somehow host up to 200 PC and craft for them, the rules in question: FAC.PTF.03 Maintaining Crew A (P...

I don't know about pseudo-physics but I did mention internal consistency before.

Re: Shuttle Lunch Bays

And the higher maximum speed is not the only advantage Fast Hulls have. Remember, this whole topic started about Fast Hulls not having a bay limit.. Not quite, it started over not needing dedicated launching gear for each bay. My take on the issue was that this was because of the launch bay limit o...

Re: Shuttle Lunch Bays

Actually the Fast Hull speed boost offers no advantage to planetary surveyors, what with MSS limitations. I found the difference quite significant, as the surveyors spend quite some time moving from one WP chain into another. Two surveyors were plenty to explore all planets for me in reasonably sho...

Re: Shuttle Lunch Bays

Now unless you've got a LOT of Totally Hidden PDC's and Silo's set aside to stop my landings, you aren't going to be able inflict significant losses on my landing. That's going to be true no matter what. Most planetary invasions are going to be quiet whumps when the troops land and ownership change...

Re: Shuttle Lunch Bays

Actually it doesn't matter for planetary landings, while an ast can only carry a Qt for 8 hours before they need to either land or go back into hibernation, but that's how long it takes to thaw out the next group, so if you can maintain a ratio of 1 ast landing bay to 2 Qv, and once you factor in d...
