Hello all.

Stephen Clarkson here.
I came across the Starfire game way back in the day when Starfire: New Empires was released. Was looking for a simple space game that a few friends could play. We Played for about 3 years before we went our separate ways. I belong to a table top war gaming (Trumpeters) up here in Vancouver BC Canada. It was not until recently that I got back into the game when I saw Sly (Xverrs) running a game at the friday night game night. That was GSF and I have progressed into Ultra since then.
I am having fun times in his game . Fighting off Berserkers at EL 6 :o , me with my fleet of BB's, BC's and armed (Ra or Rca) freighters, then just when things begin to cool down and get back on track I get attack by a race at one end of my empire and encounter a automated fleet of BC's escorting DN carriers at the other end :( (lets hope its NOT more berserkers).
My writing is not very good, but I will try and write up my empire trials and trivializations and possibly posting them here. How this would work I do not know because I am in the same game as "The Tales of the Dewolf Sector" takes place in.

Sounds VERY cool!

You can talk to him about posting in the DeWulf forum, or if you prefer I can make you a forum of your own. You can always just post them in the main fiction area, but most people would prefer similar stories to be in a sub-forum so they are easier to find!

PM me if you want me to add something for you. :-)

Good to have you here and playing!

Figured there was a roll call somewhere around here. Finally stumbled into it.

Procyon = Daniel L. Williams = drakar's dad (aka 'The *@*@*@ ing heartless SM...)

Got into Starfire when the first baggie came out and got hooked. Followed it since then, but I and computers are not the best of friends (I love my pencils!!) so I am just a newbie to the online world.

Worked for the government/military for 10 years (please don't hold that against me), degrees in Chem E/Physics (NOT English as anyone can see), and then later in life one in Nursing at my wife's urging (for which I am now eternally grateful, best job I've ever had). Currently work in as an RN in an Intensive Care Nursery or Pediatrics (not the IC kind for the big kids). Still dabble with my associates on the old physics issues, but not to often as they don't pay much or at all.

We have six kids (ok, my wife is an OB nurse and I should have seen that one coming, but that wasn't what I was thinking about when we got married), who are now my personal hostages for our in house Starfire games. They have been at it for five or six years now for the oldest, and the 9 year old is just past the baggies. He has helped with one of the NPR's in the main game, and is chomping at the bit to get his own race. (YES, another one hooked !!) The six year old likes to try and play, but the disturbing tendency of her ships to display a warp drive and show up halfway across the board directly behind your ship has proven difficult for the other players to deal with.

Otherwise if you want to see the write up for our Nemesis Campaign, you would have to trot over to the Aurora site (I think my much more computer literate son has put a link to it somewhere around here) as it is the only spot I can reliably get to. It is our first venture into an Ultra game, and full of house rules, but we like it.
(Side note to Cralis, I will try the link you posted, but they have to get our computers back online for me to give it a shot. Probably later this week they tell me. Still using my mom's PC while I visit her.)

Otherwise I am glad to see that SF is alive and well ! The site looks sooo much better than the one time I visited many years back. Kudos to all for the work they have obviously put into this. It is amazing (at least to me)!
...and I will show you fear in a handful of dust....

Meh, I've worked for the local state government and I was in the Marine Corps for a tour. You might be surprised at how many of us have done those things. You do, however, have a degree I envy. Finishing up a computer science degree this year, and hope to go back later to improve it and get a EE degree. So you're in good company :)

LOL I had to chuckle at this one. I have a 4 year old and an 8 year old, and they both just want to move the counters around. Right now I have them moving counters when I tell them they need to be moved and the youngest is just happy to do that. Although I have to watch carefully because sometimes she wants to move them some more...

Trying to get my 8 year old interested. She's only so-so. Prefers the computer, of course.

I'm hoping I can get it where you can access it anywhere. I just requested a new subdomain (test.radikus.org) to remove the "starfire" name from it, but it probably won't be up for another 24 hours or so. But when it does come up, I'd be interested in seeing if you can access our site through it.

If it works and you'd like to post the campaign to our fiction section, please let me know and I will create a sub-forum for your campaign. FYI I have no problems with the Aurora folks... I'm just trying to get as much of the STARFIRE fiction together as possible.

Otherwise I am glad to see that SF is alive and well ! The site looks sooo much better than the one time I visited many years back. Kudos to all for the work they have obviously put into this. It is amazing (at least to me)!

Thank you. Larry Robinson (Krenshala) has worked on this site as much as I have, and deserves an equal share of the credit. Without his improvements to my art work, it would only look about 75% as good as it does now. We'll keep improving it, and hopefully over the next year or two people will like some of the stuff we'll be adding.

STARFIRE may be small, but I like to think we are a dedicated bunch :)

What's up folks.

Michael Gray aka Taluron.

Bought the Starfire Pocket Game (1st) back when it came out. Then SF2, SF3, Starfire:New Empires, all Nexus, 3rd/GSF. Still have them packed away in the basement somewhere. Played campaigns of SF3, New Empires and 3rd ed. I will own Ultra eventually but haven't played in a campaign in awhile. I am still on the Starfire Mailing list and have been for a long time. Long enough to have seen the asteroid bombardment and statistics threads. Joined here just recently after someone (Cralis?) mentioned it on the mailing list.

Welcome Michael!

You got into Starfire a little earlier than I... since I started with 2nd edition. Very cool to have an old timer. Occasionally I do cross-post things to the list that are extremely important, but I think most of the traffic is now on this forum.

Matt Wadwell is working on posting the old stories from his geocities board into the fiction section, but there are a bunch of a new stories from newer players as well. Plus the TSU storyline being worked as the ULTRA story. You shouldn't have any problems finding a way to get back into playing STARFIRE at all, when you are ready to do so.

Neil Stevens A.K.A. Rincewind

I got into Starfire 6 months ago when i bought the book crusade at a libary booksell.
If you can't get rid off it by sending the Three Stooges over to it's side, then don't bother with anything else. It's indestructible.

Hello to all!! Now that the cat is out of the bag and I can no longer razz Procyon without everyone knowing who is giving him a hard time I will take a moment to introduce myself.
I am Procyon's wife of 9 wonderful years and have played more role playing games in that time than I have in the rest of my life put together. But I must say that next to GURPS this is my favortie game. I really enjoy getting to blow things up even if it is just a game. The more that I am on this site and read all of the different personallities that are on this the more I like to look around!!
As you all know my race tends to sport missiles and not a whole lot else. I have tried running laser ships but then tend to get my missile ships blown up because I forget to keep them out of range. But from the begining I have been the one that has studied the missile tree and the kids are always wanting me to share my info with them, some day maybe!! ;) So if anyone were to ask; Pan/New Euro rules the house!!

Welcome to the board! I suspected you were Procyon's wife but I wasn't sure... I was waiting for you to say the wrong thing and confirm it :)

I'm a little jealous...I've gotten my wife to play D&D but not STARFIRE. *sigh* It was great to read Procyon's stories and comments about his family game. Maybe someday I'll be that lucky when my kids get a little older.
