Monopole finally created in Lab

It looks as if scientists have been able to create in the lab a 'Magnetic monopole' in the lab, it has been 80 years since they were first theorized to exist. Many Science Fiction writers over the years have used them and their unique 1-pole (either North or South but not both) properties in their writings over the years. This includes one of my favorite authors, Mr. larry Niven. My forum name comes from a character in a book book of his called 'Protector'. That character uses the name 'Vandervecken' instead of his own. And monopoles are used in the story.
