Awesome write up ! :D

All hail the conquering Iguanas !

And for the next battle, are you the defender or assaulter ?
...and I will show you fear in a handful of dust....

Thanks for the journalistic praise, hehe.

The Iguanas must assault the Rat WP. I can't tell the order yet. Hints appreciated. I think if the ESs go in first, they will die alone. I think the heavy ships should move in and form some terrain to counter the Rat BS2 and BS1. The minuses on the dice for/against the assaulter will be interesting. If he positions the bases right on the WP, I will leave my ships there and pound him at range zero.

We will split the scenario into 2 weekends because it is so long.

7208 Year of the First Hatching
3 Eggs to your strong futures.

Mid-action report of the Battle of Rat's Kitchen Table

Summary: Bases are very tough to get away from

Details: We came out of the warp point and scampered off at max speed. We turned out in a spiral so that we could shoot back. Their bases clobbered us. We knew we had to fight back, so we turned out in a spiral. We turned the wrong way!! We thought we had turned to be able to hurt their heavy base, but we goofed up and actually turned to the direction of their lighter base. We pressed on anyway.

The realization made me shift our attack to work on their mobile force as we got farther away. We are widening the range in that spiral. The smaller base is no longer data-linked to the larger base. We may be able to draw their mobile force in and cripple it.

We do not have to destroy the bases to win-- we just have to keep them at range.

As the battle continues, we will head for the edge of space and drag their mobile force to its ultimate doom.

I f'got to mention to the Admiralty Board that we've already lost CL1, ES2, and ES5. This will be fun to win at this point.

3 Eggs to your strong futures.

We didn't play this weekend. Instead, we watched the original Blade Runner. I saw the sequel on Saturday night. The Rats player did not b/c he wanted to see the original.

Maybe next week we'll finish this up. :)

Our eggs are broken.

We played Sunday. We Iguanas didn't get away with our skins. The Rat bases were too capable at the edge of the map due to the -5 range modifier. The Rat admiral figured out he had to kill 6 ships, so he took out the escorts and the light cruisers... bye, Iguanas!

Rats win. <sigh>Mammals.</sigh>

We may play again. I need to find a space master to try out the full rule set. :)

Only the greatest of stories have a darkness to overcome before the light has victory. Fear not. It is but one battle. If this was a game the Iguanas would still hold the higher score for the most victories.

The last QSR has some rules for building your own fleets. You might try the battles again... but build your own ship designs.

The PBEM game has not started too long ago if you want to have a look at the strategic component of the game.
