So, which PDF's are available for purchase right now? I sent my buddy a pic, showing all three titles once again in my collection (he is, after all, the reason I needed to go out and buy new copies in the first place), and he want's his own copies! Is it possible for him to buy them all right now? What address do I give him to get to them? What do they cost? My physical copies cost me well over $100, but then I got the books, maps, and counters, to.

All of first and second edition is available through our Wargame Vault store at http://www.wargamevault.com/m/browser/publisher/id/9056

Or he can buy the Legacy CD through our store to get everything we have republished for 1st-3rd edition. Note that not everything for 3rd edition has been republished yet.

Our store also has counters.

Say WHAT?!?! Which counters, from what edition? I didn't know you had any left. Are these the original SF counters? How much is the legacy CD? Let me go check out the link...

We created a set of counters in red or blue that includes over 300 counters per sheet, designed by the SDS member Krenshala. We tried to make them so that they would work for all of the editions (the only caveat is that you will have to use fast hulls in place of carriers for 1st-3rd edition).

They are on the ordering page of our starfiredesign.com/starfire page.

Ok, that was weird, but I did eventually get a look at them. I already had those counters, so not looking for another set atm, but you never know...

One question that did come up, though. Is marvin's shipyard program able to be used to build Original starfire I ships?

In not, is there another computer aid that can?

While we are at it, didn't there used to be more in the way of computer aids available?

I think so... but it's highly unlikely you will get it to work. Right now it's only available because we've had a few people ask for us to keep it available to their group. It doesn't run on modern windows, and it requires DLLs from VB 5 or VB 6. I'm actually going to be taking it down when I finish rebuilding the site (now that I'm working on it).

Not yet.

There are several sysgen programs available for the later versions of Starfire. Other than that, there used to be some older tools but they are no longer available.

Gotcha! Best not to mess with it then.

I don't have modern computer programming skills, but I do still have some of the textbooks for Java lying around here somewhere. IIRC Java works cross platform? If the new Starfire I computer programs are under development/almost finished, I could always just wait for them to come out, but if not, would there be issues with making a ship printer/database program? I cannot start writing such a program yet, as I don't have the skills, mind you, but for something down the road, it may be worth doing if there is not going to be an official product/program anytime soon? Please keep in mind, I am NOT offering to try to make something that could work for the more complex versions of the game, as I know that is well beyond any level of programing skill I'll ever likely attain, but I also wouldn't have any problem with others trying to use my potential program as a base, to achieve that end.

By the way, was there ever a program for Starfire III to help run turns?

Java works across platforms, but is clunky much of the time.

I wonder if it would be workable for things like shipyards and sysgen applications? Not something needed for when the game is going on, but for when your wanting to do the books. I just don't know about spreadsheets, and so find them to intimidating to even attempt to learn, lol.

I'm so glad to see the game being sold actively once again! Now I just need to get all of my buddies to go out and buy it!!!
