Introduction to the QSR Campaign

Postby Cralis on Wed 25 May 2016 23:51

This is the introduction to the "experimental QSR" project I was talking about. The purpose here is two-fold: A> I need to write some stories to practice up for a class, and B> I want to get some more scenarios and materials out for the QSR. So it kind-of rolls together.

So the plan here is to have some fun.

I will be posting an introductory story along with a scenario. I'll play out the scenario here, using the QSR Miniature rules, and anyone who wants to participate can play with the regular QSR rules OR the miniature rules. Post your post-scenario results and analysis in the topic for the scenario.

Then I'm going to shoot for 1-2 week turn around with a continuation of the story based on the results of the previous scenario(s), along with one or more scenarios. You might get a swarm of related scenarios! And I'm not just going to take the most common result either; if you have a particular fascinating result I might just use that.

Participants will probably be asked to help name stuff, perhaps design new things, etc. In fact, a couple scenarios in, after you get a feel for how the project is going to proceed... I'll probably start a big topic where we can discuss, show off, and mess around with designs and such.

Now for the gravy. Should this project go past my class with enough participation to keep it rolling, I'm going to commit to finishing something I've been toying with: an actual, simplistic campaign system for the QSR rules along with an extension of the rules past the QSR Final. I had an idea but I've been busy with the Section V rewrite and haven't capitalized on it. But you never know...

The introduction will be posted on Friday with the FIRST "real" part of this project coming out on the 1st.

So! Any questions? Comments? Or anything else?

Yes, absolutely! The QSR-simplified Warp Point rules are in the third QSR installment, so you can read up on those rules ahead of time.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I tried the QSR rules link here http://www.starfiredesign.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=2045#p23136 and received an error message.

Should I be looking elsewhere?

Crap, no... since the hack attempt on our website our front-page news and downloads sections are down for rebuild. When I get home tonight I'll post the qsr rules on a link for anyone to grab. I'll post the link here.

My apologies, I didn't connect the two issues...

Just curious, is there anything like the qsr for campaigns?
