STARFIRE is an original game of starship combat and interstellar empire building. Originally written by Steve Cole in 1976, the game system was expanded in the 1980's and 1990's and based on the books by David Weber. In 2000 GALACTIC STARFIRE was released, which has evolved into the current ULTRA STARFIRE edition.
STARFIRE's unique combat system allows players to build their own fleets of starships and annihilate those fleets in only a few hours play time. Fans of 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate) games will enjoy that STARFIRE has a campaign system that allows you to build an alien empire, control every facet of its development, and attempt to conquer a galaxy full of players and/or non-players alike.
Take a look at our Introduction to STARFIRE for a more detailed look at the STARFIRE game system, check out the Downloads Page for free files, or head over to our Ordering Page if you want to see what products are currently available.
Today I spent a few hours adding some new stuff to the forums to make up for being gone all weekend and not posting much last week. If you look at the reports at the bottom of the forum's main index, you will see that the bots are now hidden and will no longer show up on the user's online or the 24 hour user activity reports.
In addition we've added a new private board for moderators and put together a complete set of moderation rules. These rules will not affect individuals running their own sub-forums in the history section, but they will apply to moderators, admins, etc. The last modification done to the board were some superficial glitches in the texts that had been reported.
We are changing how we are going to view and distribute the TSU project, with all short stories now being posted at the TSU History Sub-Forum in the Community Forums. To start I have re-posted the "Sierra Two Two" part 1 story in anticipation of posting part 2 (due out soon!)
I am still not satisfied with the proposed TSU History page for this main site, so work continues with the goal of getting that page added next.
Today I started a new sub-forum on the community section that will link fan web pages about STARFIRE. It is located here.
We will post any Starfire website we can find, and you can make suggestion by emailing webmaster@starfiredesign.com or make suggestions/discuss the sites at the Fan Sites Thread.
...I forgot to post an update. The db of the forum was backed up on Thursday, and since then I have added several new mods. The most apparent is in the stats on the bottom of the main forum and PM alert turning red when you have messages. In addition, for a brief time the "top-five last posts" stated who the last poster was (instead of the original topic poster), but that broke it somehow and I am working on it. I am also working on finding the correct date format function for the forum so it displays like the posts do. Too many stylesheets and support files! (more than 20 of each) The full list is in the announcement.
I am currently working on adding another two mods to our template since it is custom - that is what is taking so long - at the request of Crucis. Then I will be updating the main site again.
