GSF Errata 4.14 available
Version 4.14 changes from Version 4.13
1,19,D6.02.1 add "PDC armor is energized and grounded. This prevents E damage
from skipping armor. Armor is destroyed on a 1:1 basis."
1,28,F2.03 Add the the end "When rolling to activate a datagroup, determine the
activation number individually and use the lowest one of the group."
1,52,M1.02.1 replacement: Ground-Based Industry A population has (PU/200 +
IU/50) (FRD) construction facilities with the same build rate as the races SY.
All projects and tasks, except those involving PDCs or Ground Facilities, cost
150% the project price/task. Assembly tasks cost an additional +50% of the hull
cost. LEL: ground-based industry counts as having EL 0. No ground based
industry exists on asteroids or HGT.
1,55,M6.03 AF can add systems but must shutdown while doing so.
2,17,Y11.05 IND race Spending Policies
LEL pay 35% of income per turn for R&D. No projects or anything else occur but
that cares for all the automatic EL and SL gains that occur in N12 and N12.01
and N12.02.
LEL pay 15% of income per turn for industrial upgrades. This money is
effectively lost.
LEL pay 25% of income for Qv army purchase and maintenance.
LEL have the remaining 25% of income to either buy IU, buy Qv, or if IND-2 and
having the technology to do so, buy hulls and systems.
2,17,Y11.06 Pre-IND race Spending Policies
Pre-Ind lose all money generated unless controlled by a HEL race. In that case,

surveying."
AP.02 1st table Add "A CD is a special smaller version of Drone1-cm and does
not have inherent sensors."
2,40,Table7 add Smcft and AP Base Range (often listed as inherent sensor range)
is Medium Range. Combat range is 1/2 base range. Short range is 50% of combat
range. Scan range is 20% (FRD) of Short Range.

GSF Errata 4.13 available
Version 4.13 changes from Version 4.12
1,23,D9.06.2 Change the word "including" to "excluding".
2,25,AP: Add AP shot defense is always 100%.
AP.02 1st table: Add "A CD is a small version of the Drone1-cm and does not
have the Drone1's inherent sensors."
2,40,Table7: Change Long ranges to Yca-1440; Ycb-4320; Yce-7200; Yci-10080;

Drone1 has no inherent sensors.
Mar 16th, 2004
GSF Errata 4.12 available
Version 4.12 changes from Version 4.11
1,22,D7.04.1 Add " Losses are totaled for all battles in 30 day period that
occur in the same or adjacent system - this might occur in situations where
gunboats constantly strike a fleet over weeks as they cross a couple of
systems, or more. This paragraph is not definitely always 30 days or always
same or adjacent systems. It is much more about the nature of a particular
attack campaign. A fleet engaging multiple enemy fleets (or the same fleet
repeatedly) as they travel can be worn down over time to the breaking point
whereas each enemy fleet starts whole (no losses). A fleet which stops and
defends a WP or planet without being harassed for a period of 3 days resets its
loss level to zero. Receiving reinforcements does not reset the loss level
unless the reinforcements are at least 50% of the original fleet size or 100%
of its current size."
1,82,Add T3.14.6 NPRs Treaties and Amalgamation
Any third party NPRs, assuming T3.13.5 does not apply, keep the treaty type
they had with the race that offered amalgamation, even if that treaty type is
worst than the treaty they have with the race accepting amalgamation. The sole
exception is when the NPR and the accepting race have a partnership in which
case that is the new treaty.
1,94,V4.04 change "contact" to "full communications"
Add to AP.01.2 XOg racks are not allowed on AP.
Add: "Errata: Each -1 or +1 "targeting" modifier increases or decreases the
number of shots by 15% (FRN). This applies to things like EM, EMS, transit
effects, and now includes Crew Grade. It does not apply to specific weapon
modifiers (i.e. Pg are still at -1 shot). This is also used instead of "shot
defense" modifiers for strikewave targeting. Rounding in this case occurs per
firing unit, per firing datagroup, or per firing fleet, which ever is most
accurate. Thus, a ship firing shots at x number of small units, would total the
shots against all small units, and then apply the targeting modifier
adjustment, and then round to see how many shots were added/subtracted. Then
that player reduces the shots against each small unit in proportion to the
number applied against each target."
Rule Numbering Changes:
C4.04.5 should be C4.04.2.
D9.02.1 (the 2nd one) should be D9.02.1.1
K2.03.2 and K2.03.2.1 (the first ones) should be K2.03.1 and K2.03.1.1
respectively.
The 2nd N9.03.3.1 should be N9.03.3.1

MAP Shortage
I have discovered that I have less that 20 complete maps left
and I have adjusted prices accordingly. I have a number of the OTHER map parts
but the map part with numbers 8 and 9 on it are about gone. I still have plenty
of unfolded maps (perhaps 200-250). Once all those are gone, I'll decide
whether to print more maps or now. As it is rather expensive and I don't sell
them that fast, that doesn't look terribly promising unless I do a pre-order
thing.

GSF Errata 4.11 available
Version 4.11 changes from Version 4.10
In errata 1,20,D7.01.2 change "normally" to as "non-LOD" 1,17,D5.03 Add bullet
"* All additions/subtractions to sensor ranges occur before any percentage
increases or decreases are applied."
1,41,K2.03.4: add EL2 hulls, including prototypes, cannot be built during the
pre-turn.
1,41,K2.03.5 add Optional Rule: Allow the building of prototypes, at full cost,
during the pre-turn.
1,51,Add L7.02.3 Units which do not receive maintenance can not be repaired
during the same month.
1,84,U5.04 Add below Table "Information is tech data in reference to the
players current SL in that particular branch of science. Thus, a player with
Force Beam SL 3 captures 6 Fe systems. In order to understand the tech data
received, about the Fe system, the roll must be 91 or greater because Fe is SL
7 and that is 4 SL above the players current SL of 3."
In errata 2,10,Y2.02: The Ind-1 modifier should be "Divide PU by 2 (FRU)".
2,26,Construct. Tree: Add EXa to the EL 2 line.
2,27,Electronics: Branch to EM occurs at SL 5.
2,30,Lnk
{Modified} Lnk.01 Damage as a single weapon, but for each added weapon firing,
range is +1 (at 1 damage) OR to-hit is +2 (max to-hit of 8) OR damage is +1.
EX: 3 linked beams could be +1 range and +2 to hit OR range is +1 and damage is
+1.
{add} Lnk.01.1 Linked weapons can fire through the atmosphere of a planet at -2
damage. Before fire through atmosphere, the ship must not have fired the
involved beams during the previous 2 turns.
{modified} Lnk.03 Link R&D x cost (per RP) is lnk quantity times 10+10. I.e Lnk
2 is 30 per RP or 300 for 10 RP.
{add} Lnk.04 High level link abilities can split fire. I.e. Lnk4 could fire 2
Li at one target and 2 Li at a 2nd target on the same turn. All weapons must
still be identical.
2,34,XO: XO racks are allowed bases.

FTP sites working!
There are now TWO FTP sites. http://ftp1.24invest.com/ftp/

The ELITE spreadsheets are available on at least one of these sites.

ELITE IS FINAL!
Another month has passed at the Starfire Design Studio, and
ELITE has become final. While Section N needs to be redone for clairity, there
are almost no rule changes in that section. Therefore, I'll go final with ELITE
and when Section N is able to get done from the person doing it, I'll release
that. There might be a few more minor changes but I think that I can either (if
they are major) use red font to show the changes or errata them in a small
document. The nice thing about Electronic Publishing is the ability to replace
documents which fully corrected ones and to insert things you forgot about,
like Table of Contents and Index.
Sept 28th, 2002
After almost two weeks of frustration, I'm finally
able to update the Starfire website again.
Of particular news is that the main Starfire FTP download
site is also offline as is the FTP site I've been using for the last few months
to allow downloads of large electronic products (such as Elite and UTM). This
2nd site will probably not be reactivated and instead Starfire will, in
cooperation with its online partner Digital Gamers, be using a site that will
initially allow you to download (on demand) the products that you have
previously purchased (that is ANY previously purchased "electronic" product).
This will require you to be registered and will limit you to downloading from a
single location. As I'm sure that your concerned about your privacy information
(no credit card information will be passed to Digital Gamers) and only
information on those who have REGISTERED will digital gamers will be passed. As
the original Starfire Design Studio privacy policy was that no information is
EVER, nor has EVER, been given to any other entity (company or individual),
I've never felt a need for a privacy policy. However, with the new alliance
with Digital Gamers, I am going to be needing a privacy policy. Initially, I'm
going to start with theirDigital
Gamers Draft Privacy Policy. Please check this out for any concerns and
let me know if this is an issue for you.
Digital Gamers will also be handling the FTP site for regular
up and downloads soon, so that should be back in action within a couple of
weeks at the worst.
"Digital Gamers is also going to be doing lots of other
things for the Starfire Community as part of getting the online version of
Tactical Starfire up and running. A couple of things of interest, in
particular, include a JAVA based version of Shipyard (cross-platform
compatible, of course) and
The Academy. The Academy is an interesting idea and I'd like to see a
number of you submit articles on the tactical aspects of Starfire (ESF, chase
battles, initiative importance, weapons discussions (GSF and Elite)). There is
also room for Strategic and Fleet operations level "papers". Please don't be
worried about the "paper" wording. These discussions are expected to help both
novices and/or intermediate level players get up to speed with Starfire. On
thing you might be asking yourself is "Why should *I* spend my time writing
such a paper?" The answer is simple. Such papers help players overcome the
initial learning curve. And while you might be giving away some of your
super-secret tactics and strategy, it will be worth it in the long run as the
Starfire Community grows by leaps and bounds. Instead of having dozens of
players interested in playing at a time, you'll have thousands. You'll never
lack having people interested in joining a campaign, filling in for a drop out
or just playing a pickup (or even ladder) tactical battle to keep your skills
sharp for your next online battle in a campaign. So be selfish and write that
paper.

Galactic Starfire's expansion ELITE (electronic
PDF only) is now available from the ordering page. Please note that this
product is in a **beta**-release version. However, free updates will be
provided as they become available. If you want to provide input into the Elite
product, here is your chance and it costs you nothing extra. This product will
likely range in the area of 200 or so pages once everything is completed. The
outline looks something like Elite Index

Announcing StarfireTM
Online!
  Digital
Gamers
Digital Gamers, Inc., in collaboration with the Starfire Design Studio, is
proud to bring you an exciting new series of games based on Galactic Starfire,
the 4th edition of the Stature game system. New opportunities for victory await
you as you go head-to-head online against players from around the world. Play
tactical battles in pick-up games or confrontations generated in a strategic
campaign. Join your friends in a private on-line Space Mastered campaign,
competing against each other and non-player races for control of your galaxy.
Or build your empire and compete against thousands of players in a massive
multi-player persistent on-line universe, And if you are a Space Master who has
been looking for tools to support your campaign,, make use of the Space Master
campaign aid service.
Starfire Tactical Combat
Compete online in the classical game of space combat. Customize battlefields to
environments ranging from a starless nexus to a heavily fortified warp point
junction. Choose victory conditions ranging from last man standing to
specialized objectives. Set constraints on forces including available
technologies, technology levels, hull sizes, and fleet size/cost. Import ships
from Shipyard(TM) or use the built-in editor to design new ships. Save ship
designs in a private library, and draw from that library to define your fleets.
Record the events of your battle for download and review in an after-action
report.
  Requirements: Sun-compliant 1.2 JVM
Available: 2Q2003
Space Master Aid
Few games offer a job as challenging as that of the Starfire Space Master.
Generate hundreds of star systems for the campaign. Link them together through
warp points, Audit players for "accounting errors." Manage non-player races.
Generate contacts between potentially hostile forces. What is the total
capacity of that warp point? How long does it take to transit from System A to
System X? Space Master Aides give you tools to manage the data driving your
campaign. And the tools interface directly to the Tactical combat system,
allowing you to set up battles for your players who are also subscribers.
Requirements: Sun-compliant 1.2 JVM
Available 4Q2003
  Premium Space Mastered Campaign
Play the full Starfire system in a private campaign of up to ten players. Issue
orders at the strategic time scale, and take command at the tactical time scale
as you contact hostile forces, Negotiate with players and non-player races - or
just overrun them - as you struggle for control of the galaxy. The choice is
yours.
  Requirements: Sun-compliant 1.2 JVM
Available: 2004
   Starfire RTS
Experience the challenges and rewards of running an interstellar empire in
real-time. The Starfire RTS (Real Time Simulation) allows you to run an empire
in a shared, persistent universe with thousands of other players. Time is
compressed to allow the passage of several game days in a single real-world
day. React to events in real-time as they occur, or "catch up" while the game
clock is suspended during evening hours. Use pre-defined behaviors to control
political, economic, and military behavior, or use the built-in scripting
engine to program your own behaviors. Requirements: Sun-compliant 1.2 JVM; some
optional messaging features will require a pager, cell phone, or email account
Available: 2004
Features and system requirements are evolving as products develop. Digital
Gamers is committed to supporting the broadest range of target platforms
possible, but performance requirements may cause software to perform
inadequately on some low-end hardware.

1,10, Add "C6.02.7 For a unit in transit racks, the following systems cannot be
operated: shields, weapons, engines, T, Td, X, Z, Zc, bays. Point defense can
only engage inbounds aimed at the PD mounting unit. All other systems operate
normally."
1,20,D7.01.2 Units may use LOD mode to transit WPs but LOD is detected normally
and all other penalties still apply. All sensor ranges, including standard, are
reduced by 50% (FRD).
1,20,D7.02.1 Change "Primary beams" to "Precision weapons".
1,22,D9.05.1 Inherent buoy sensors detect all starship DF modes except LOD and

FRD for ground based industry amount.
1,54,M4: Scrap value on the table should be 30%, not 1/3rd.
1,60,N9.06 A combined project is treated as one development project. Costs are
determined as if each project was separate and of its own type (SL/development)
-- with the additional 25% cost. If any item/SL in the combined project is
critical/hazardous, etc. then the whole project is of that type (or the worst
type of two types). All breakthroughs leading to the individual items in the
project must be opened before the project can begin.

planets at 1 sec per 5 PU. This force is maintained at zero cost by the slave
race and grows as the slave race grows. When subject race is achieved, the SEC
maybe moved or sold."

turn of payment.
1,82,U "Ships with only armor and/or holds remaining are not eligible for
section U rules on intelligence."
1,83,U4.03 Damage systems cannot be evaluated.

Other sheet, cell A31 has the wrong sum range. The correct formula is
=SUM(C32:C38).
Summary sheet, cell I19 has the wrong formula. Should be =Other!A40

New Version FF spreadsheet available!!!!
Changes and new features -- version V2.00
Major error previous versions -- in cell of Turn 0, Summary!H28. This should
have the formula from the cell below except the last 9 should be an 8.
Military Forces retained at home now correct.
Colonization Policy was not being correctly calculated.
Income from Conquered populations no longer affects the cost of R&D but still
affects CFN size, as it should.
CFN size is now based on total GPV (imperial income plus conquered income) plus
trade income as indicated by new errata.
WARNING version FF of the sheets is not compatible with previous versions due to
new columns added to the maintenance page and R&D page!!!
NEW FEATURES
All types of construction should now function properly including pre-fab and
assembly of full units.
Pre-fab units are tracked on the maintenance page similar to mothballed units
(except location is not tracked). Undeployed Buoys and drones should be tracked
as pre-fab. Deployed buoys and stuff can be assembled (zero cost, minor
capacity usage but that can be reduced to 1 HS) to show on the "maintenance/in
use" section. Used materials can be destroyed via col Y or normal destroy unit
method.
Furthermore, all types have been automated in as many areas as possible. Fast
assembly is automatically 50% cost and assmbl is zero cost. Both assmbl types
remove units from pre-fab. Prototype costs are automatically calculated and
included. New class units are 20% more expensive. Planet build costs are
included. Examine unit and Refurbish unit project types add and use the proper
amount of shipyard space. Repaired units are automatically tracked and not
added to the total number of units. Refit unit warning to delete old class on
the summary page BUT see next item.
Refits just got easier as you can now place a -{old class name} after the rf
indicator and the old class will be deleted from the maintenance page on the
same turn the new class appears. See comment in Yards!U50 for more information
and examples.
Disassemble projects [M2.03] added and they automatically generate cost (hull
cost) and project size (HS) and are completed in a single turn per section M.
Combined projects now supported.
Added to Spy page a list of when you gain certain informational bits from an
NPR race, a WP Transit chart, and a War Check resolver for Space Master use.
Reformatted INV Qv and H page and added an Invasion calculator for Space Master
use.
Added Technologies available summary to the tables page.
Added to fleet page a total lookup of ships, their designs, and speeds. This
will help avoid lots of jumping around to figure out how fast ships can travel.
Added NPR creation check list on the summary page.

Errata Control
Version 4.9 changes from Version 4.8
L4.02.1-A The Base CFN size is based by the total of Imperial planet GPV,
conquered planet GPV, and trade income. Temporary incomes such as pillaging,
wealth transfers, lease revenue, scraping, and IU sales do not increase the
Base CFN size.
