STARFIRE is a 4X game (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate) set in the Age of Space. Starting from a single planet, you eXplore beyond your starting system via Warp Points, eXpand your population and military/political control into the surrounding systems and beyond, eXploit the resourses of the galaxy around you, and eXterminate any opposition. There are 5 editions of the Starfire Game (see Starfire History for details.
Actually, all STARFIRE editions consist of what are really two games. A complete Tactical Combat game and a Strategic Empire Building Game.
Tactical Starfire (a part of ULTRA Starfire) is a game of space combat between fleets of starships, where victory can determine whether empires live or die in the deadly cold of space. Take command of entire fleets of ships, bases, and planets and do combat against one or more opponents in a single evening.
Strategic Starfire (a part of ULTRA Starfire) is a game of building a Space Empire. The decisions of what to invest your income in (colonization, R&D, trade, military, exploration, etc.) determines both the nature of your empire and its ability to handle the thousands of curveballs the universe could throw at you. Will the next race you met be God fearing and peaceful, or a genocidal Democracy? You just never know!
Take command of an entire empire and destroy your dearest friends over the course of days, weeks, and months.

This web site is devoted to the improvement and promotion of the board game STARFIRE. Starfire was originally produced by Task Force Games. In November of 1997, the Starfire Design Studio bought all the Starfire copyrights and stock.
