Re: Sysgen Topics*: Planets (day 6)

Interesting tables, Reminds me of the GURPS Space system generation. I have often used that system to give flavor to the worlds but not actually change the game values. From a game perspective I wouldn't be so harsh in changing the environment for things like atmosphere density and gravity, if only ...

Re: Sysgen Topics: WP Everywhere

This is one of those things that if everything was set up for you by computer and you were able to keep accurate track of where WPs were in relationship to planets without too much work this is cool. There's a good chance you can just refer to the location of the WP from the primary though. Its not ...

Re: Future of Starfire Turn Spreadsheet Mk5

Have the formulas been tested. The problem I had with Open Office when I tried to convert the spreadsheets to it was that open office didn't support all the formulas very well. I haven't had time to test the functionality in Open Office or anything else for that matter. I just made sure that it ope...

Re: Sysgen Series: Long Distance Companions

...have it's own WPs. Shhhhhhhhhhh your going to ruin my future sysgen topics Jeff!! Actually, they are so exceedingly rare (first you have to get an anomaly system, then you have to get this result) that I'm not sure its a big deal. But I actually do have a future topic covering your exa...

Re: Sysgen Series: Moon Tidelocks

Matt, I actually like the UR and have played around with them. I know that system generation stuff is something you are fond of but I just don't see that this makes enough reason to make all these changes to what amounts to a stable rule set. It's kinda of interesting having the ability to surprise ...

Re: Sysgen Series: Planet Types

I guess i just don't care that much about variety. I do know that changing the G and I planets away cause the exotic races to need rebalancing. To me since most of the Os were not that important for economic purposes beyond setting a population in the system. I don't care about the names. H B and F ...

Re: Sysgen Series: Moon Tidelocks

I would say changing the values of systems that are currently balanced in the exotic life makes this change more work then the expected benefit.

The extra work to rebalance the exotic life races doesn't seem worth the changes.

Re: Sysgen Series: Long Distance Companions

The farther systems will have a significant chance of being not worth the effort. Which isn't that big of a deal. Already a good number of the distant trinaries are not worth exploring. A better anomaly would be to make the distant trinary system an existing single start system in the list of availa...

Re: Sysgen Series: WPs and Asteroid Belts

I think this increases the anomaly for WPs in an AST belt more than it needs to be. Though I can't remember the last time I've had a WP be at the same distance as a AST or Planet. Unless the system generation sets this up automatically it would be too much work. If it was just a change to the system...

Re: Sysgen Series: Planet Types

1. I've never seen any confusion about O planet types. So I'm not a fan of it changing. 2. Adding an m prefix to the planet type is a good idea, though it means updating the spreadsheets to handle it correctly. 3. I don't think the mass value for gas giants has any game effect. Unless there's a fact...
