Unless they're out there doing something a little more substantial than swatting pirates.

One of the things that has cropped up many a time was "how do you do intelligence operations with warp points in the way?" A couple different answers have been posited; suborned merchants, "commercial ties", and just straight-up passive observation.

But how do you do this while at war?

I was reviewing some rather interesting (and frightening) news on my Google+ feed, when in a spark, both a story idea and an answer came to mind.

And for the record, each and every loophole and error that is exploited by the deWulf Drone is a legitimate attack that either has, or is currently in use. And worse yet, they're hardware oversights, not software. So patching them out of existence may not even be completely possible!

Sorry about the delay for the last snippet. I literally had to put a full halt to it when I realized that I had neglected to work out fully half of the deWulf crew ranking system! While I'd worked out the command and flag ranks long ago, everything up to Lieutenant Commander was entirely missing (so no enlisted, no NCOs, no nada).

I'd realized this somewhat when I had the artwork commissioned for what the deWulf looked like (and how their uniforms were laid out) since I needed to work out how the various rank stripes looked, and thus how many there were. But I didn't catch that I needed to also work out WHAT they were called as well. Somewhat unsurprisingly, the main difficulty was in NCO and junior officer country. But, that was eventually worked out in turn, which let me finally complete this post.

Thanks for sharing the DeWulf Universe with us through the years. I have to say this every once in a while because I know how much time the game takes and how much time putting your interesting stories into print adds to that.

Danke, Gracias, Merci, Arigato, Spasiba, Kiitos, Xie Xie, Grazie, Asante, Thank you; and so much more.
I weary of the chasssse. Wait for me. I will be mercccciful and quick.

Heya!

Just wanted to fire off a bit of an update and to let everyone know what's going on (especially "Why isn't there more to read?!?" front). I've not been happy with my output as of late, and I figured everyone here ought to have an idea as to why. There's two real reasons why:

1) Work. We had a pretty in-depth security audit in the fall, and unfortunately we didn't do as well as we'd like. So, what with me being the security guy, I had to do a LOT of work to get things back up and running. I only just finished my re-inspection this week, and let me tell you it was pretty damned intense. It's over, we're up to spec and we passed, but these last few months have really been grinding me hard, and I was using my weekends as some proper mental downtime instead of writing. If I didn't, I probably would have gone stark raving mad

2) I caught up on my turns. I'd pushed a long ways ahead way back when, and I finally ran out of completed turns. So now I actually have to Play Starfire instead of just writing. Kind of is useful to actually have actual events written of instead of just generic filler. I mean, I've got that too! But I want to progress the story as much as I can as well as just tell interesting segues.

But the good news is that I'm done with the whole security proctology exam, and so I'm under a LOT less stress. Which gives me a lot more free time to actually process turns, write, all that good stuff!

That work stress is real. It’s been a huge problem for myself and some of the SDS members. So I totally sympathize and I am extremely happy to hear that one of us was able to knock that crap off of the schedule!

You know, of course, that your followers are going to expect more stories now ;)
