Buckeye Campaign Comment Topic

Read a reference somewhere about having a separate topic for comments to go so I thought I'd start one.

I wonder if you'll encounter the Wolverine Hegemony, or the Spartan League?
In closing, all I have to say is: Shield, Shield, Shield, Armor, Armor, Armor, Hold, I-drive, Missile Launcher...

The above mentioned groups may all make an appearance. Although not too soon yet I hope. Want to get a few more turns under my belt before introducing any NPR's.

Starting research into X SL2 and I SL2 on Turn #9

RDS5 - X SL2 (+5 RP = 5 RP) 15 MC + 15 MC
RDS6 - I SL2 (+5 RP = 5 RP) 15 MC + 15 MC

Just a note that the first turn of a new research project is double cost per:

N5 - R&D Project Startup & Operation
An R&D project advances by the accumulation of “research points” (RP). To begin a non-EL R&D project, the race must pay double the normal fee [N6] for the first “RP rate” (usually 10) of RPs, and assign the project to an appropriate (SA) or (RDS) facility

P.S. Great start & don't ever trust a 'Boilermaker' Diplomat. Hehehee.

I am aware of that.

I thought I was indicating that by saying I spent 15 MC + 15 MC for 5 SL2 RP's for each project.

Thanks for the comments BTW.

Should have gone to sleep when I got home from work, but was happy to read your Buckeye posts. I see now what my eyes failed to see the first time (and second time).

oooooh turn by turn data from a new startup campaign. You're awesome. It gives me something to see how new players do with the rules, and yet another data point for making sure things are working right :)

I wouldn't say I'm a "new" player since I've bought every version of Starfire since back when they came in a ziplock bag but I get your point. I'm more of an old timer trying to blow the rust off with these new fangled rules. :)

I will keep providing the turn by turn numbers then if you find them useful to see what's happening. I already have a template for it so it's no big deal. Besides, working in IT I know how valuable test data can be. :ugeek:

The one thing that has always rubbed me the wrong way is building your fleet pre-game and then the direction to mothball most of it to save money. It just feels wrong to me from a role-playing point of view. Your new star empire just discovered a gateway to the stars and will start exploring the galaxy so let's lay up some of the fleet to make more money available for research/colonization/etc. If that is the direction that makes the most sense then maybe the amount of money for the pre game battle fleet needs to be scaled back. Why would there be so many ships available? Anyway, not a huge deal and it's the reason I haven't mothballed anything in my game.
