I realize that this is a bit of a necro-thread, but my question is directly relevant to the original topic.
Aramis, would you mind if I repackaged the glyphs from your font?
For my own use, I've written a program that takes the font and, depending how I tweak the code, will spit out individual 'characters' as .PNG files ready for use as tokens in a VTT. (I'm using MapTool (
http://www.rptools.net), an open source, Java-based VTT.
What I have in mind for repackaging is two-fold: system maps & ship token sets.
First, I'm using the stars, planets, and warp points from your font to make up maps for 1st Ed. I currently have a numbered starfield hex grid ready for battles (48x32), the Galactic Hex Chart with all 66 systems positioned, and the Sol system done. When I finish the rest of the starting systems, I'd submit the completed MapTool file ("campaign framework") to SDS as a Game Aid for 1E play.
Secondly, I've got the program spitting out individual, numbered ship counter libraries in .PNG that are ready to be used as VTT tokens, complete with appropriate background colors. TFN and KON are done; for more, I just need select a new background color and run the program again. I'd submit these PNG sets to SDS as a 1E/2E Game Aid, and possibly (after appropriate permissions have been obtained) to the MapTools "Resource Library" archive where the tokens could be downloaded from within MapTool. (The ReadMe file for using this second source would also be another way to point people to the SDS site and maybe drum up some more interest in Starfire . . . .)
Credit in the ReadMe files where due, of course.
