What is the problem with the images displayed here on the forum? They look just about the same to me on the forum as it does on your imgur account...

The transition from ship to transparent background is pixelated. I suspect some problem with semitransparent pixels. I only spot it here on the forum, on imgur it looks right the same as on my desktop as in blender itself. I'm looking at the forum using Firefox, don't know if it is a browser issue.

I'm also using Firefox. I think what you're referring to is an effect of image resizing. Are the images you are linking actually larger than the size they are in the forum? If so, that's what is causing the effect. Now that you mention it, I do see that, but I'm so used to it that I didn't pay any attention to the artifacts of resizing.

I'm currently looking into better ways to generate the windows. The ship size feels too small of my first attempt. What are the canonical Starfire scales, by the way?
I'm currently trying out 500 000 m^3 per HS of the center hull (just the ovaloid.) With the same scale a corvette comes to a length of 640m, a heavy cruiser has a length of 900m

If I remember correctly, Marvin presumed 1 HS was a 30x30x30 meter cube, or 27,000 m^3 each.

My notes indicate it was a 20x20x20m cube >.>

I started from some comment I picked up somewhere here that an st is the size of a naval destroyer. I went approx 100m length for the st then.
A missile tube has a 12m diameter then, the beam emitter is a 26m caliber.

Marvin has said that (and I'm sure I repeated it), but he meant volume not length.

I already went down with the length, I think I looked up the Arleigh Burke which is some 150? m if I recall.

The U.S.S. Arleigh Burke has an overall length of 505ft (150m), beam of 66ft (20m)... although I'm not able to find total tonnage at the moment.

I will point out that the Burke-class DD is one if the largest ever built, only exceeded in size and displacement by three other destroyers in the U.S. Navy (among those, one being the U.S.S. Zumwalt)
