Church of M'Khera ship design catalog

Postby olivertheorem on Sun 11 Aug 2013 18:24

This will be a work in progress as I set up the initial ship designs and add new ones later. Feel free to comment on the wisdom (or lack thereof) of the designs of the Church of M'Khera. You will note that the ships are not as fast as they could be. This is due to the "one fewer than max engines" design requirement. I took that as one fewer engine than would allow max speed, so they're slower but otherwise more capable than a max-engined ship.

Edit: Modified Sprinter and Pathfinder classes.

Paragon-class Command Vessel
Build/Maint cost: 387.1/58.1
DD / 30 HS / 13 HTK
[3] S S A Qa (Ia Ia) Ya Fa Qa Fa (CICa) (Ia Ia) [4] (Fa x2) gig

Intended to serve as fleet flagships, the Paragons are few and far between, valued for their ability to enhance fleet effectiveness.

Enterprise-class LR Combat Vessel
Build/Maint cost: 400.0/60.0
DD /30 HS / 14 HTK
[3] S S A Ta M1 Qa (Ia Ia) Ka+ Yb Ka+ Qa (Ia Ia) [4] (Ka+ x2) gig

The Enterprises are the long-range gunners of the fleet, and if they get close and grab you with the tractor, it's all over.

Dragonfly-class SR Combat Vessel
Build/Maint cost: 247.2/37.1
CTf / 16 HS / 8 HTK
[2] S A Ia Ia Fa Qa Fa Ia [6] (Fa x2) gig

Built to get in close and wreak havoc with their force beams, the Dragonflies are widely regarding as having either the bravest or most reckless crews in the Church's navy.

Sprinter-class Picket/Courier
Build/Maint cost: 202.9/30.4
ESf / 11.5 HS / 7 HTK
[2] S (ia Ia) Fa Qa Yb Ia [7] (Fa x1) (AC)

The messenger boys of the fleet, the Sprinters live on the outskirts of the fleet, keeping a watchful eye out for danger...then running away as fast as possible to tell everyone else.

Pathfinder-class Exploration Vessel
Build/Maint cost: 76.9/11.5
EX / 7 HS / 7 HTK
[2] S Bsa Xa Bsa Qa Ica [6] (AC) (2x st)

The Church's small but essential explorers, the Pathfinders were designed to swarm new systems to learn everything possible about them as fast as possible.

Since I never actually posted these last night....

Edit: Modified all three classes.

Lance-class Troop Transport
Build/Maint - 260.7/39.1
FG / 22 HS / 22 HTK
[2] S S A A Qv H H Qv H H Qv H H Qv H H Qv (Ia Ia) Qa Qa (Ia Ia) [5] (AC)

The Church's troop carriers, Lance crews are ready carry the troops into the fray when the time comes to indoctrinate...er....enlighten newly discovered races.

Nomad-class Light Freighter
Build/Main - 37.3/2.8
FT0 / 7 HS / 6 HTK
[2] H H H H Ica Qa [4] (AC)

Traveler-class Freighter
Build/Maint - 109.3/8.2
FT2 / 16 HS / 13 HTK
[2] Qv H Qv H Qv H Qv H Qv H Qv Ica Qa Ica [4] (6 Qv, 5 H)

I had a third freighter but forgot to put it in my detailed log, apparently. So I'll have to redesign it.

Olivertheorem,

Your Ica Engined Freighters are going speed 6 but max is 4 for Ica, per the Construction - Ship Hull table.

Do I see this right (and calculating the HS proofs I do :) ), your explorers are equipped with only 1 Ia? That will give them a strategic speed of 2, which will limit their MSS to 2, too (too much "t(w)o(o)s ;) ).

I think that because of his 1 speed less thingy he rolled, which makes no sense for Commercial engines. Well, It makes not that much sense for Military engines either, but it does add flavor. Blood has a flavor, right? Um , he didn't put commercial engines in the explorer. That is the issue. Even with the flavor thingy, you can always put 1 engine in a vessel, and that's all he needs if it was a commercial engine. I hope the 'Church' gets a "sign from above" shortly and is allowed to optimise his vessels fairly soon.

Both FT have one Ica to many.
The Nomad can move at Spd 4 with a single Ica, while the FT2 can move speed 4 with two Ica.
So drop an engine on each and replace with H or Qv.
...and I will show you fear in a handful of dust....

Forgot the FT speed restriction, so yeah I'll have to fix those.

Missed the EX strategic speed thing, so I'll probably redesign those. Maybe stick a half-engine in or something. That or take the Xp out (as someone mentioned in the general comments thread) as well.

I'm certain on redesigning the troop transport. I hate that it has 1 strategic speed.

I need to get all the designs done so I can buy the starting fleet already! I do enjoy ship design though.

A half-engine alone is not allowed. Such a small ship will be the exception from the rule.

If you have SSF v6.02, read C1.02.2.1

If not, you need to get SSF v6.02 :)

Well, even I am able to miss something. :)
Not very often, of course. 8-)
